FAQs
What is the membership cycle for the Houston Striders?
Membership in the Striders lapses at the end of June every year.
What does a membership get me?
Besides the biggest group of friends you could ask for?
Each member gets one free t-shirt, available for pickup at training sessions across Houston.
You’ll be able to attend four quarterly meetings (inclusive of food and beverage on the house), access to our SMART Training Program, and access to exclusive membership discounts at Running Warehouse, Fleet Feet, the UT Health Houston Half Marathon, and more. Plus, you’ll receive our weekly newsletter, where we let you know about the latest happenings in the club, shoutout your race accomplishments, and more.
Am I too slow for a running club?
Absolutely not.
The Striders aim to provide a training environment for all paces and levels of experience, but some of our sessions have more of a focus than others. Head to our runs page for the complete breakdown of sessions and target pace groups. Our coaches are able to answer more specific questions.
I love being a Strider – can I make some merch to show how passionate I am?
We love the passion of our members, as they’re the only reason we get to do what we do. All usage of the Striders logo and mark is subject to approval of the board of the Houston Striders to ensure safe and appropriate usage. Email membership@houstonstriders.org for more info.
How can I volunteer at local events?
The Striders is built on the time and effort of passionate volunteers. We have a multitude of volunteer opportunities available throughout the year, from the UT Health Houston Half Marathon to various long run events throughout training season. If you want to hear more about specific opportunities that aren’t posted, email membership@houstonstriders.org for more info.
Who are your coaches, and what are their expertise?
We’re proud to have a diverse set of experienced running coaches volunteering their time to help you reach your fitness goals.
Multiple coaches hold Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) Level I license, whose course covers a variety of training, safety, and operational areas of expertise. Other coaches hold certifications with USA Track & Field (USATF) and other local and national associations dedicated to furthering the sport of running.
Head to our runs sections to learn more about who will be leading your training session.
My question isn’t answered here. How can I get in touch?
We love hearing from our members. Please email membership@houstonstriders.org and we’ll get back to you.
