Houston Striders 2023 Scholarship Application

The Houston Striders are a non-profit, metro-wide running club with a mission to support fitness. We proudly present our Houston Half Marathon & 10K each autumn. And we are honored to help build a future for students by awarding scholarships to further their higher education. For 2023, we seek to award need-based, renewable scholarships in the total amount of $2,000. The scholarship funds are payable ($1,000 per year) over the first two years of a four-year degree program or over the course of a two-year degree program.

The scholarship is open to: 

1. 2023 graduating high school seniors
2. Currently attending a Houston Independent School District (HISD) public school
3. Will be attending a Texas university/college/higher education program or trade school in the fall of 2023
4. Have a minimum GPA of 2.5/4.0 

*All current Houston Striders members and their families are eligible to apply. New members joining the Houston Striders after March 17, 2023 are not eligible to apply for the 2023 Houston Striders Scholarship but will be eligible for the 2024 scholarship.

The Houston Striders 2023 Scholarship Application must be submitted along with all supporting documents by May 8, 2023.

2. An official transcript from your high school
3. A letter of recommendation from a high school counselor, teacher, or coach who knows you well and can attest to your scholarship and character.

Scholarships will be awarded in June 2023.
Applicants will be notified by e-mail regardless of whether they received an award.
