For all calendar events, please watch for updates through the weekly club announcements sent over email. Also check the group Facebook page for updates. Everyone is welcome to show up at our trainings - they're free!

Striders Walkers

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday: Join your walking leads, Lee and Virginia, for a great workout in conjunction with our regular Westside Track Tuesdays, Matt's Mystery Run (Wednesdays), Chad & Hans Hills (Thursday), and Azita & Bert's Long Run (Saturday). Walkers and runners gather together for a group start to both the walking and running workouts. Contact Lee Greb or Virginia Moherek for more information.

Tuesday

Inner Loop: Track Tuesday in the Heights followed by short ab/core workout and watermelon. Rain or shine. Start time is 6:25 pm at Heights High School (413 E. 13th Street, Houston 77008) and bring a mat or towel for the core workout.  Contact Bob Schamus for more information.

West Side: Jack Daniels track session at Memorial Middle School (12550 Vindon Drive, Houston 77024). Start time is 6:30 pm sharp. Contact Jackie Scrivner for more information.

Wednesday

Inner Loop / West Side (morning): 3M (Mid-Week Mileage Morning) Run, led by Kelly Ramey. Arrive at 8 am to start running by 8:10. Workouts start at the tennis cente on the Semour Lieberman Running Loop at Memorial Park. Contact Kelly Ramey for more information. 

Inner Loop: Matt’s Mystery Run, coached by Matt Wright. Start time is 7:00 pm. The “mystery” lies in the distance and route taken that particular day, but figure on 3-5 miles in this no-drop run. Meet at the Rugby Field Parking Lot in Memorial Park, located south of Memorial Drive and about halfway between the sand volleyball courts and the Running Trails Center. You will know it by the single tree growing in the middle of the lot. Thursday

Inner Loop: Hills workout at 6:30 pm. Meet in front of the United Way at Feagan and Waugh for Houston-style hills and fun! Good for beginner and experienced runners. This is your weekly dose of endurance training to build strength and improve both running form and mental fitness. Contact Hans Wong for more information.

West Side: Thursday workouts start at 6:00 pm at the Memorial Mews Gazebo, located at 15200 Memorial Drive (just south of Memorial Drive), for a workout in Terry Hershey Park. Contact Jackie Scrivner for more information.

Saturday

Open Long Run: Generally meets at the swimming pool parking lot at Memorial Park. Start time is 6:00 am. Please email Garrett Rychlik if you intend to run as this group does alternate workouts in prep for key marathons like Houston and Boston. Group pace is typically 7-8 min/mile, target distance varies but generally 10-14 miles.

Alternate Open Long Run: Slower-paced (8-10 min/mile pace) run from the swimming pool parking lot at Memorial Park. Start time is 6:30 am. Target distance is generally 8-12 miles. Contact Steve Livingston or Azita Erfani for more information.
